Tom Jackson spent 25 years as the President & CEO of the Ohio
Grocers Association, three years with the National Grocers
Association, and seven years as a management consultant in the areas
of employee relations, human resources, training and management
development.
As a tireless advocate for the food industry in management
development, government relations, loss prevention, and food safety,
Tom was privileged to serve multiple governors on various task
forces, working with the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the Office
of the Ohio Attorney General, the Ohio Environmental Protection
Agency, the Ohio Department of Liquor Control and the Ohio Lottery
Commission, and as a gubernatorial appointee to the Ohio Expo
Commission and the Ohio Food Safety Council.
He served on numerous boards of directors and participated in
many industry-related continuing education programs.
Tom’s leadership has been recognized
by many organizations with whom he has worked, including the
International Grocers Alliance’s J. Frank Grimes Award for
Outstanding Service to IGA, the National Grocers Association
State Association Leadership Award, the Food Marketing Institute’s
Donald McManus Award, and was honored and humbled with his induction
into the Ohio Grocers Hall of Fame.
Tom has
facilitated strategic plans for associations, working with Boards of
Directors and Senior Staff to develop plans of actions. He has
presented to hundreds of audiences in the areas of leadership, human
capital and workplace culture. Most recently, he launched the
Florida Grocers Association for his client the Florida Retail
Federation. And he inaugurated the Florida Loss Prevention Council
that produced annual Loss Prevention Conferences.
Tom Jackson’s business career began with IBM Sales. He owned two
businesses prior to his consulting and association management
practice.
Tom is a graduate of Akron University, College of Business, and
earned his CAE (Certified Association Executive) from the American
Society of Association Executives.
Tom lives in
Bonita Springs, Florida with Ellie, his wife 50-plus years, is the
proud father of two children and four grandchildren.
